What Meta Ads Manager does

Meta Ads Manager connects your company's Meta account to one of your Botonom agents and lets it manage your Facebook and Instagram advertising end to end. Under the hood it runs on Meta's official ads MCP, the same managed interface Meta built for AI agents, so the agent works with your real account data: campaigns, ad sets, ads, creatives, audiences, tests and performance insights.

In practice, you stop logging into Ads Manager for both questions and routine changes. You ask things like "how did we do last month?", "draft a traffic campaign for the spring sale", or "boost yesterday's Instagram post", and the agent does the work and reports back in plain language.

Everything the agent creates starts paused. A campaign, ad set or ad it drafts spends nothing until you explicitly tell it to activate. Activation is its own separate, role-gated step.

What it can do

Here is what the skill can do for your business, in plain terms:

  • Create and edit campaigns. Draft campaigns, ad sets, ads and single-image creatives, upload images and videos, preview how an ad looks in Feed, Story or Reels, and update or activate existing entities. Everything starts paused until you approve it.
  • Read rich performance insights. Beyond spend, impressions, clicks, CTR and CPC, it reads insights the public API does not offer: your account's opportunity score with recommendations, anomaly signals when a metric behaves strangely, industry benchmarks against similar advertisers, auction ranking hints and performance trends over time.
  • Manage custom audiences. Create, update and delete custom audiences, and see which ad sets target them.
  • Run A/B tests. Create and manage A/B tests and conversion lift studies, and read the results of existing ones.
  • Research the Ad Library. Search Meta's public Ad Library for competitor ads and creative inspiration.
  • Boost Instagram posts. Turn an existing organic Instagram post into a boosted ad straight from chat.
  • See account activity. Read the ad account's activity log, mirroring the campaign history page in Ads Manager.
  • Generate a PDF report. Compose a clean, branded PDF for an ad account over the date range you pick: account summary on top, per-campaign breakdown sorted by spend, sent back as a downloadable link.

Installing and using it

First, add the skill to an agent:

  1. Open the Skill Marketplace in your Botonom dashboard and find Meta Ads Manager (category Marketing & Ads).
  2. Click Install and choose which of your hired agents should have it, for example your Marketing Agent or Sales Assistant.
  3. When prompted, connect your Meta account (one click; see the next section).

After that, you talk to the agent in normal language. Some realistic examples:

User: How are we doing against our industry this month?
Agent: Compared to similar advertisers, your CTR (1.49%) is
above the benchmark median; CPC is slightly higher.
Your opportunity score is 100, no open recommendations.
Want the full picture as a PDF?

User: Draft a traffic campaign for the spring sale, 20 USD daily.
Agent: Done. I created "Spring Sale Traffic" with one ad set
(20 USD/day, link clicks) - everything is PAUSED.
Say "activate it" when you want it live.

User: Boost yesterday's Instagram post for 3 days.
Agent: I prepared the boost (paused). Budget suggestion: 15 USD
total. Confirm and I will activate it.
Anything that would spend money is created paused and activated only on your explicit go-ahead, and activation itself is restricted to trusted team roles.

Connecting your Meta account

Meta Ads Manager uses your company's Botonom Meta connection. There is nothing to paste: you click Connect Meta, approve the permissions on Meta's own consent screen, and you are done.

Good to know about the connection:

  • One connection, shared. The same Meta connection powers every Meta skill in your workspace. Connect once; skills reuse it.
  • You stay in control on Meta's side too. In Meta Business Suite (Settings, then Integrations, then Ads MCP server) you can allow or block specific actions per ad account, for example blocking budget changes above a limit. Those rules are enforced by Meta on top of Botonom's own role gates.
  • Revoke anytime. Disconnect from your Botonom dashboard's Connected accounts section, or from your Meta Business settings; either cuts the skill's access immediately.
  • Optionally set a default ad account in the skill settings so you do not have to name the account in every request.
If the agent reports that an ad account is not enabled for the ads MCP, open Meta Business Suite, go to Settings, then Integrations, then Ads MCP server, and enable it for that account.

Good to know

A few honest limits and details so there are no surprises:

  • Nothing goes live without you. Created campaigns, ad sets, ads and boosts start paused. Activation is a separate step, restricted to manager, admin, owner and full-access roles.
  • Access is role-gated. Ad data and ad changes are business-sensitive, so every action is a separate permission your workspace roles control. A public or anonymous chat widget cannot touch your ads.
  • Tool availability can vary. Meta rolls the ads MCP out gradually, so a few capabilities may not be enabled for your account yet. Ask the agent to list its available Meta tools if something seems missing.
  • Money figures come back in the ad account's own currency, and the PDF's per-campaign table shows spend, impressions, clicks and CTR at a glance.
  • Your data stays in your workspace. The connection is stored encrypted, is never shown in chat or logs, and the agent only sees what your own Meta account can already see.
