NetGSM SMS
Lets your agent send text messages to customers through your own NetGSM account for order and appointment confirmations, reminders, and alerts.
This guide begins with What NetGSM SMS does, continues through What it can do, How to use it, Connecting your NetGSM account, and finishes with Good to know.
What NetGSM SMS does
NetGSM SMS connects your Botonom agent to your own NetGSM account so it can send text messages straight to your customers' mobile phones. NetGSM is a messaging provider in Turkey, and this skill uses the account (and the approved sender name) you already have with them.
Once it is installed, your agent can send an SMS the moment it makes sense in a conversation: an order confirmation, an appointment reminder, a delivery update, or a quick alert. The message goes out through your NetGSM account and arrives from your approved sender header, exactly as if your team had sent it.
What it connects to: only your NetGSM account, using credentials that you paste into the skill's settings. It does not read your emails, contacts, or other systems, and it does not do anything beyond sending the messages you (or your agent, within the rules you set) approve.
What it can do
Today NetGSM SMS does one thing, and does it cleanly:
- Send a text message to a Turkish mobile number. Your agent writes the SMS and sends it through NetGSM in the flow of a normal chat.
- Handle confirmations, reminders, and alerts. Order confirmed, appointment tomorrow at 2 PM, shipment on its way, table booked: your agent turns these into a short SMS.
- Use your approved sender name. Messages go out from the sender header you registered with NetGSM, so customers recognise who is texting them.
- Respect your İYS setting. If you configure an İYS filter (Turkey's Message Management System for messaging consent), the agent tags each message as informational or commercial accordingly.
- Understand common number formats. It accepts numbers written as
0555 111 22 33,+90 555 111 22 33, or905551112233and normalises them for you.
How to use it
- Open the Skill Marketplace in Botonom and find NetGSM SMS (in the Communication category).
- Click Install and choose which of your agents should be able to send SMS (for example your Sales Assistant or Support Agent).
- Add your NetGSM credentials in the skill's settings (see the next section).
After that, just ask in plain language. A few realistic examples:
User: Send Ayse a reminder that her appointment is tomorrow at 2 PM.
Her number is 0555 111 22 33.
Agent: Done. I sent the reminder to 0555 111 22 33 from your
approved sender name.
User: Text 0532 444 55 66 that their order has shipped and
arrives Friday.
Agent: Sent. The shipping update is on its way to 0532 444 55 66.
User: Send a promo to all my customers.
Agent: I can send an SMS one recipient at a time, so I will need
the specific numbers. This is also a commercial message,
so please make sure those contacts are Iys-approved.
Which numbers should I text?
Connecting your NetGSM account
NetGSM SMS uses your own NetGSM login (this is a bring-your-own-account skill, not a one-click sign-in). There is no OAuth screen: you paste your NetGSM details into the skill settings, and they are stored per agent.
You will fill in four fields:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| NetGSM user code | Your NetGSM username / user code. |
| NetGSM password | Your NetGSM API password. Stored as a secret. |
| Sender header (approved) | The sender name NetGSM has approved for your account, e.g. ORNEKFIRMA. |
| İYS filter (optional) | 11 for informational messages, 12 for commercial messages, or leave blank for no filter. |
The password is masked in the interface and encrypted at rest, so it is never shown back to you or written into logs. If you leave a saved secret untouched, Botonom keeps the existing value.
Good to know
A few honest limits and safeguards:
- Turkey only. It sends to Turkish mobile numbers through NetGSM. It is not a general international SMS gateway.
- Sending only, for now. Today the skill sends messages. It does not read replies, pull delivery reports, or check your NetGSM balance yet. The skill is built as a broader NetGSM gateway, so capabilities like delivery reports, balance, and one-time-passwords may arrive in future versions.
- It costs real money. Every SMS is a paid message on your NetGSM account, so sending is treated as a sensitive action.
- Permission-gated. Only agents and team roles you have granted the SMS capability to (for example staff, manager, owner, or full-access roles) can send. Roles and Access in your workspace is the source of truth.
- İYS compliance is yours to manage. For commercial messages, make sure recipients are approved in Turkey's İYS system. NetGSM will block messages to recipients who are not permitted.
- Your data stays in your workspace. Credentials are per agent, encrypted, and never logged. You stay in control: remove the credentials or uninstall the skill at any time to cut off access.
